Creating a Continuum of Care
Bob Sehring, Chief Executive Officer at OSF HealthCare, shares how an integrated health care system functions along every step of a patient’s wellness journey. By broadening virtual capabilities and opening clinics near critical communities, OSF has introduced new pathways for treatment.
An east coast native, Bob’s career took him to different parts of the country including New Jersey, Atlanta and St. Louis before landing in Peoria. The opportunity to join a mission and a ministry is what initially drew Bob to Peoria. But he and his wife soon recognized that Central Illinois was exactly what they were looking for long term. It provided a comfortable, family-friendly community to raise their three young children in.
Over the decades, Bob has had many jobs for OSF, from operating ambulatory services to working as Chief Operating Officer before being named CEO of OSF HealthCare in 2017. He’s seen Central Illinois change over the past 21 years, and under his leadership, OSF has expanded and introduced new resources to meet the changing needs of the region. As one of the main heath care systems in Peoria, Illinois, OSF plays a crucial role in community growth.
In this episode, Bob talks about his leadership experiences at OSF and about serving as an ambassador for the Choose Greater Peoria movement.
We’re thrilled to bring you this eye-opening discussion with Bob Sehring as he shares his passion for Peoria and explains how the advancement of the region is linked to the availability and quality of its health care options. We hope you enjoy listening!
“As an integrated delivery system, we really get to touch people in so many different ways all along their health care journey.”

About Bob Sehring
Bob Sehring is the CEO of OSF HealthCare, a not-for-profit Catholic health care organization headquartered in Peoria, Illinois. Under Bob’s leadership, OSF HealthCare has been restructured to an integrated regional and service line delivery system that’s grown from an 11-hospital to a 15-hospital health care ministry. That growth extended reach and services into the metro Chicago market and also led to the establishment of a digital health operating unit branded OSF OnCall.
Under Bob’s leadership, a robust oncology service line has also been developed, including the construction of the OSF Cancer Institute in Peoria, Illinois. Only the second of its kind in the state, the center will include proton beam therapy and is scheduled to see its first patient in early 2024.
Bob earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in public accounting from Hofstra University in Uniondale, New York. Prior to joining OSF, he held various executive positions with Aetna, New York Life and Metropolitan Life Insurance.
Bob and his wife are proud to have lived in Greater Peoria since 2002 and felt right at home raising their three children in such a family friendly area. Connect with Bob on LinkedIn.
