About James Shadid
James Shadid is a distinguished legal professional, proud Peoria native, and as of April 1, 2025, is the 13th President of Bradley University. His accomplished legal career includes roles as assistant public defender for Peoria County, commissioner of the Illinois Court of Claims, judge on the Tenth Judicial Circuit, and U.S. District Court judge for the Central District of Illinois — appointed by President Barack Obama.
Shadid’s deep connection to Bradley includes time as an adjunct professor and service on the Board of Trustees. He is also an alumnus, with over twenty family members who’ve attended the university. Beyond campus, he has contributed to the region through leadership roles with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Peoria and the Pediatric Resource Center.
