Making Real Change and Pushing Ideas Forward Using Engaging Workshops
We’re embracing the creative fun that comes with workshops with executive facilitation expert Tim Leake, whose 25+ years of experience in a multitude of fields has allowed him to help a wide range of leadership teams unlock new ideas. He’s a believer in the power of workshops and their impact on productivity. “In a workshop, you can come up with a lot of ideas in a very short amount of time, that usually would’ve taken a week or two behind the scenes while other people have client work…,” says Leake.
In this episode, Misty sits down with Tim in the Sweat Studio to talk executive facilitation and how adding a little fun, getting outside of routine and removing awkward politics in workshops can help your teams and clients push real ideas forward. Leake reveals common mistakes people make during facilitation and gives advice when it comes to steering conversation. Whether you’ve been a part of a thousand workshops or haven’t dipped your toe in yet, this episode of Marketing Sweats will give you a new perspective on facilitation.
“When it comes to executive-level facilitation, when you’re a part of the executive team, there’s a point where you know the players too well, they know you too well and the politics involved. Then you think ‘If I push back on this guy, I’m going to hear about that later,’ so then you don’t, and that’s no service to the group. It can be really helpful to have an outside facilitator. They can bring an outside perspective. Because these things are not business-as-usual type of events. You need to approach them in a different way.”
