Staying Grounded in People, Purpose and Progress

In this episode, Misty sits down with her business partner and Simantel co-owner, Tim Leesman, to talk about leadership, partnership and the evolution of the agency. From growing up on a farm just south of Peoria to leading a thriving marketing firm, Tim shares how early lessons in hard work, curiosity and persistence shaped his approach to business and leadership.

He looks back on his winding path into advertising, his early years at Simantel and what it was like for him and Misty to step into ownership, including the challenges of guiding the agency through the uncertainty of the pandemic. Tim also shares why taking calculated risks, making bold moves at the right time and putting people first remain central to his leadership philosophy.

Together, they talk about what it means to grow from strong roots, honor the legacy of founder Jim Simantel and stay grounded in the culture that continues to define the agency today. It’s an honest, down-to-earth conversation about growth, change and what it really takes to build something that lasts — proving that relationships make all the difference.

“This is a people business. We are here in service of our clients … putting that first and foremost, I think is important.”
