A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Building UX
Senior Web Developer, Alan Wilson came to Simantel without much development experience but eager to learn as much as he could. And one of his greatest learning experiences happened in his first year, when he collaborated with teams across the agency to develop an interactive QR code check-in experience for participants at CONEXPO 2020.
The goal was simple, but – as great UX design usually is – the development part was much more complex. Alan and his team worked tirelessly to dive into the nitty-gritty backend details, ensuring each piece of technology played well with the others. But when a big piece of the technology changed right before the tradeshow, Alan and his team had to take a step back. In order to develop a seamless user experience, tradeshow attendees would need to know how to work this new technology. So, the team went back to the drawing board, got creative and tested their plan inside the agency before rolling it out.
In this interview, Misty and Alan talk through the steps the team took to develop and deliver a unique and memorable user experience for our client. There were hurdles from start to finish – including the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic that was perfectly timed with the launch of the tradeshow. From expectations to the harsh reality that hit us all in 2020, Alan’s interview takes us through his career-defining moment that became his Point of Pride.
We hope you enjoy Alan’s interview. Give it a listen now!
“We have processes that have been curated over time. So, we start with [what’s] been tried and true, and then we start adding things in to push the envelope each time…we’re always trying to push it further and further and further.”
